Artist's rendition of new Anderson Early Childhood School gym

The Allen ISD Board of Trustees has approved the construction cost for the full renovation of Anderson Early Childhood School. This transformation will repurpose the former elementary campus into the district’s first dedicated early childhood facility.

The project is part of Prop A from the 2024 bond. Huckabee Architects and CORE Construction will serve as the district’s partners for the renovation.

Originally built in 1997, Anderson was most recently updated in 2011. The current project represents a comprehensive redesign that aligns with the building’s new educational mission. The transformation includes updated mechanical systems, new geothermal heating and cooling systems, and redesigned interior learning environments tailored to support early childhood development. Around 102,000 square feet will be renovated.

To better serve families, the district relocated special services spaces to the front of the building. Additional site work includes a redesigned traffic flow and a new entrance off Winterwood Drive, addressing long-standing congestion concerns and allowing for safer, more efficient drop-off and pick-up zones.

The Anderson renovation builds on input from the district’s long-range facility planning committee and incorporates feedback from campus leaders and pre-K educators. The building is also designed to support community engagement and parental involvement with welcoming spaces and thoughtful aesthetics.
