Recesses received an upgrade across Allen ISD thanks to voter approval of Bond 2024. All 17 of the district’s elementary school playgrounds are receiving new equipment, repairs, and shade structures to create safer, more enjoyable spaces for students.
Renovation work has already been completed at 14 elementary campuses: Anderson, Bolin, Boon, Boyd, Chandler, Cheatham, Evans, Green, Kerr, Lindsey, Marion, Norton, Olson, Preston, Reed, Story, and Vaughan. The remaining playgrounds at Cheatham, Green, and Norton are scheduled for updates before the start of the 2026–27 school year.
The playground improvements were included in Proposition A of the 2024 Bond. Proposition A provided $419 million to repair and upgrade infrastructure throughout the district and to complete major renovations at Cheatham, Green, Norton, and Olson Elementary Schools; Curtis and Ford Middle Schools; and Anderson Early Childhood School. The Olson project was completed over the summer of 2025.
