More than 200 Allen High School students recently participated in the second annual Allen ISD Manufacturing Day, a full-day event designed to introduce juniors and seniors to high-demand careers in manufacturing. Held in partnership with the Allen Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) and seven local companies, the October event featured facility tours, panel discussions, and interactive sessions with industry professionals.
Students traveled to up to four manufacturing companies across Allen, experiencing firsthand the processes and technologies used in modern production environments. Participating companies included All Metals Fabricating, Nordson, Kone, Flexlink, Amphenol, Anora Labs, IntelliEPI, and Visitech. Each company offered a unique perspective on career pathways, skill requirements, and advancement opportunities in the sector.
The event was supported in part by grant from the Foundation For Allen Schools to provide transportation for six bus routes, ensuring that all interested students in the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program could attend. Activities throughout the day emphasized hands-on learning and real-world applications, with students gaining valuable exposure to engineering, technical, and production careers available in their own community.
Organizers also hosted a panel discussion, giving students the chance to hear from company leaders about their career journeys, educational backgrounds, and the evolving landscape of manufacturing jobs. The event aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and workforce readiness, encouraging students to consider local, skilled career paths that align with both personal interests and economic demand.
Thank you to Allen ISD, the Allen Economic Development Corporation, and all the participating companies for making this event possible and for helping students explore new career opportunities in their own community.
